Our Small Business
Kaydee and I love everything about working with dogs and all animals. It was by circumstance that we fell into this trade, however it was no coincidence. Training dogs is our passion. It inspires us and brings great pride to see our canine trainees leave our program for a life of success.
Drew trained his first dog at 5 years old. Living in a classic suburban home in the outskirts of San Diego, Barkley, a black lab mutt, was his best friend. They would traipse around the quarter acre yard eating from the variety of fruit trees together and napping in the dirt. On multiple accounts, Barkley used his retriever instincts to save baby birds and bunnies from the other family dogs and bring them to Drew. They shared a heart. Since then, Drew never lost his love for animals. After graduating from San Diego State University, he went to work for a local dog trainer. It was here that Drew would find the fulfilment he'd been searching for. Training dogs was a natural instinct. Drew understands the balance of structure, freedom, sternness, and unconditional love for dogs from all walks of life.

Kaydee is a nurturing animal lover. Since childhood, she has worked with horses, dogs, cats, rats, and tortoises. The Halsted Home holds a family history with her late Yorkie, Winnie (Pooh Bear), who watched her grow up and fly the coop for San Diego. Winnie was her pride and joy. Kaydee's pleasure in life is spreading love and happiness in any situation, whether it be among people or animals. She began working for the same local dog trainer as Drew, with a special love and emphasis in the little puppies.
Kaydee is the Potty Training Master and understands how to teach and care for your puppy to an incomprehensible degree. In return, the dogs flock to her side and cry with happiness when they see her first thing in the day. Kaydee is a beacon of light in this world and it shines through in her mastered skillset of training dogs to behave appropriately in the home. The unconditional love she gives helps them grow and fly the coop on their own, returning to their loving families.

Kaydee and Drew met working together at a local coffee shop while they were putting themselves through school. As they became best friends, Drew could never stop thinking about what an incredible wife, co-worker, and mother Kaydee would be. When they began working together training dogs, Kaydee finally gave in and they fell madly in love. They realised their dream of moving to the countryside, Kaydee's home town of Marysville, California, and started their own business doing what they loved. Kaydee and Drew are Living the Dream of small business owners working for their passion. They hope to continue to raise more animals, including children, as they are surrounded by the ever-loving nature that only dogs can provide. Keeping your pet safe, loved, and well-educated is the simple life they strive to perfect every day.
